Monofyl is a monofilament synthetic abosorbable surgical suture prepared from a co-polymer of glycolide and epsilon-caprolactone. The chemical composition is similar to Ethicon Monocryl.
Monofyl retains approximately 50-60% of its original strength 7 days post-implantation. Absorption of Monofyl absorbable synthetic is essentially complete between 91 and 119 days.
